Both separately and together, they live the experience of the American in Tokyo. Who do you think killed the Black Dahlia?
I believe it was Dr. Walter Bayley. First I read Sylvia Browne’s book "Visits from the Afterlife". Its when I first learned about the Black Dahlia case. You see Sylvia Browne is a psycic. Obviously I reluctant to believe this at first but in the book she channels the spirit of elizabeth short (the black dahlia). Elizabeth explains her early years and how she was trying to make it in Hollywood. One day she called her sisters friends parents looking for a place to stay and lies to them over the phone saying her friend,Barbara, said if she’s ever in town she should go see them. Their names were Walter and Ruth. When she meets Walter, a surgeon, he says he’s getting a divorce from his wife Ruth. After drinking a glass of wine on a empty stomach he becomes forceful. She keeps coming too and blacks out again. At one point she comes to a woman is fighting with him. Her name is Alexandra. She tells him to get rid of her. She said that no one had actually figured out her cause yet. No last names were mentioned in the book. This book was published in 2003.

Everyone has speculated her killer was a doctor by the way she was cut up.

Today I was watching The Black Dahlia on the bio channel. The first guy said he believed his dad did it. But the second man caught my attention. He discoverd that a block from where elizabeth’s body was dumped was a house owned by Ruth Bayley the mother of Barbara bayley. She was getting a divorce from a surgeon, walter bayley. Two women were fighting over the house. Ruth Bayley and his girlfriend Dr. Alexandra Von Partyka. All these names add up to Sylvia Browne’s book. This show was made in 2008.

Thats why i believe he did it. what are your opinions. who do you think did it.

disposing of an alive person?
I’m writing a book. My main characters recently subdued a pursuer who is a ranking official. They have him tied up in their room abord a steam ship. the ship has returned to dock. I need a creative way of getting him out of site long enough to either get away or something else. 1860’s Venice. Think League of Extraordinary gentlemen. all ideas welcome.

It’s a steamship. They have a furnace, with which they heat the water to produce steam. Burn the body.

Put him in a long box and throw him over board privately without prying eyes, or if one of the main character has a relative or friend at the harbor, put the tied man in the box in his/her care. That is all I can think of without getting too bloody.

Did I over react to this?
So I talk to this guy over aim sometimes that I know from work, and it was always bye sweetheart and oh you’re so cute. I told him to cut the crap out since i’m seeing someone, and he stopped but I said something recently to him and he’s like "oh you’re so cute."

I basically flat out told him to that what he says is inappropriate and that if it was said in front of my boyfriend he’d get his face beaten in then blocked him.

To Kill a Mockingbird Project?
I am in a group of 5 for my project. We have to analyze four chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird. My task in the group is the illustrator. I have to select 5-8 key events in chapters 12-15, present them pictorially and explain why each scene or event was selected. I have decided to present my pictures in a scrap book but I am unsure how to explain the events.

So far I have chosen the events:
1. Aticas is out of town so Calphurnia takes Jem and Scout to her Church.
2. Aunt Alexandra comes to stay with the Finches. She trys to convince Scout to be more mature and start acting like a "lady".
3. Dill has run away because his parents weren’t interested in him. Dill dobs him in to Aticus and lets him stay the night. Dill sleeps in Scouts bed and they talk about getting a baby.
4. Aticus drives to the jail ti protect Tom Robinson from people who appear out the front. When Aticus is out the front Jem, Scout and Dill appear as they have snuck out.

I need two more events and I am not sure how to explain why I chose these events.

Note: I have read the book!

This may refresh your memory – Good Luck!

"Like and antelope walking straight into a lions den"?
Can u please help me come up with different expressions i could use like the one above ?? I want it to have the same meaning, but that one just doesnt fit my story very well… any ideas ?? It would help alot !

Well, not knowing your story makes it a little difficult to propose a really great one, but here are some examples:

"Like a thief walking into a police station."
"Like a lost soldier wandering behind enemy lines."
"Like a chicken walking straight into a den of foxes."
"Like a small animal walking into a bear cave."
"Like a fly investigating a spiders’ web."

Could probably come up with more later.
Hope that helps some.

Help sewing fleece hats – pattern help?
I’m attempting to make something close to this http://www.animehot.net/angrywhite.html but I simply cannot find a pattern that comes even close to it.

Right now I’m just learning so I’m sewing by hand just to get the hang of how it all works. Does anyone know of a pattern online that I can use or any tips they can offer?

I’ve tried to use a pattern I bought in the store and it came out all lopsided LoL I’ve tried to use and understand this particular tutorial http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php ?topic=56636.0 but the author seems a little scattered, or maybe it’s just me LoL

Thanks for any help that can be offered!

Also, If I’m sewing by hand, should I reduce the size of the seam by the 1/4" everyone says to leave to compensate for the hand sewing or just leave it? I’m using "Blizzard Fleece" if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the link Allison, it helped tons and here’s the final result after hours of sewing by hand LoL http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c378/a sphaltangel/100_0926.jpg

It was a little crooked on my head but hopefully you get the gist. Thanks so much again!

I recently made a hat almost just like this for a friend.

This is a simple and user friendly pattern and tutorial. I loved it.
http://clearkid.deviantart.com/art/Fleec e-Hat-Tutorial-68772035

As far as the 1/4, I would go ahead and use it. A quarter inch seam allowance is pretty common and pretty small; anything smaller and you’re going to have a mess on your hands to sew. If the seam allowance looks to bulky when you’re done sewing it, you can very carefully trim it down.

you can contact me at locker_elf on yahoo messenger if you have more questions.

:D hope this helps!

| Nov 29, 2009

Why would you reduce the size of the seam? It’d just make the parts come out poorly matched. Sew on the seam line. If you are using a pattern with 5/8" seam allowances, you can certainly trim them down to 1/4", by removing 3/8" off all seam allowance edges. That won’t change the position of the seam line, just the amount of extra fabric. However, beginners often find it useful to have a wider seam allowance to hang onto, and trim later.

Start with a pattern like: http://www.kwiksew.com/Catalog/cat_detai l.cfm?pid=3627&Cat=Crafts&Level= Hats,_Mittens,_Socks&QL=CraftsHatsMi ttensSocks
Notice that the bulk of the hat is a single piece of fabric, shaped at the crown by 4 cutout triangular shapes, called "darts".

You’re going to sew the dart that lines up with the middle of the forehead, and then you’re going to make a pair of ears, which in the sample you’ve got, appear to be two half circles of fleece stitched together, turned, and then sewn into the hat at the darts on either side of the first dart sewn.
The fourth dart is sewn as you sew the back seam.

The hard part about sewing fleece by hand is that it tends to stretch as you sew if you’re not careful not to stretch it out of shape.

What stitch are you using to sew it? I’d use backstitch because it’s a strong stitch and it’s a tiny bit stretchy, but you could also whipstitch it. That makes a tougher, rounded, cordlike seam that can be pretty bulky.

Any chance you can put up photos of your first attempt someplace like picturetrail or flickr so we can see what’s going on?
kay | Nov 29, 2009

I found the instructions on Craftster to be very good. It was tiny, so I’d have to enlarge it to be sure, but it looks great. It is, however, written as though the author is speaking directly to you as you work. Most of us aren’t used to that style. I would suggest reading it aloud to yourself once all the way through before starting. Then, silly as it sounds, read it aloud as you go.

Get a few pieces of craft felt (19c to 29c each) at a crafts supplies store or fabric shop. Make a prototype out of that. Make your pattern pieces out of cardboard and keep them. As you make little adjustments to your prototype, make them on the pattern pieces as well.

Fleece is stretchy. It can easily get pulled out of shape when you’re working with it. Be very aware of that and careful not to pull it except where specifically instructed to do so. Felt will help you see what’s what, as it does not stretch. It may not be wearable, as it doesn’t stretch, but that’s not what a prototype is for.
